The province of Ca Mau has more than 300.000 ha of shrimp farms, occupying more than 600.000 persons, almost half of the population. Not all of the production of shrimps is done in a sustainable way and many producers are smallholder farmers with no or little formal education.

The Sustainable Shrimp Alliance (VSSA) plays an active role in supporting initiatives towards sustainable shrimp production by: promoting the improvement of production and processing technology to reduce costs, increase quality, and reduce environmental impact; Strengthening chain links, and mobilizing resources to solve industry problems; Improve capacity for international integration and global business in Ca Mau shrimp industry; Developing Ca Mau and Vietnamese shrimp brands in the world market.

VSSA members are producers, collectors and processors and although there is a good intention to collaborate, it is not clear for everyone what the values of the VSSA are that they are supposed to subscribe to, nor do they have tools to substantiate a collaboration in a professional manner. This project will create a Code of Conduct (CoC) for all members to agree to and design templates of bilateral and multilateral chain link contracts for the members to use.
