The Mekong Delta faces many challenges and vulnerabilities in relation to water resources management, e.g. flooding and drought/salinization, groundwater (over-)extraction, and diversion towards an increasingly intensified agriculture. To solve the problems and create a decent livelihood for citizens, the solution is to initiate a Salt Campus, which is financed via Public Private Partnerships.

The Salt Campus is a collaboration project of high-quality Dutch and Vietnamese companies, (applied) research and educational institutions and provincial and local governments with the aim to develop a focal point for the joint capacity building and training on adaptation to climate change and subsidence in relation to the water-agro nexus in salinizing muddy coastal landscapes.
